Pilgrim - a course for the Christian Journey

Pilgrim – is it for me?

“The Pilgrim course is a journey to the heart of God and to a living, personal relationship with Jesus Christ within the household of his church”   The Archbishops of Canterbury and York.

The Pilgrim Course aims to help people explore what it means to become disciples of Jesus Christ. It offers a safe place where people can explore the Christian faith together and examine how it can be lived out each day through contemplation and discussion with a group of fellow pilgrims.

  • Pilgrim starts at the very beginning : all that is needed is a desire to learn and explore
  • Pilgrim aims to equip people to follow Jesus Christ as disciples for the whole of their lives
  • Pilgrim is Scriptural: in each session people will engage with the Bible
  • Pilgrim draws deeply from the Christian tradition with modules on the Lord’s Prayer, the Eucharist, the Creeds, the Beatitudes, the Ten Commandments and the Bible

The course is divided into 8 modules, each with 6 weekly sessions, which in Pinner run in the Spring and Autumn. You are welcome to come to just one course, or several. All sessions include a mixture of teaching, Bible reading, prayer, small and large group discussion. The course is suitable for those who want an introduction to the Christian faith as well as those who want a refresher course. All are welcome to the Pilgrim Course.

At St John Baptist’s we have now followed all 8 modules of the Course . So in September we begin again with “The Lord’s Prayer ". This module explores the prayer Jesus gave to his disciples. Long ago when people wanted to become Christians they learned this special prayer in preparation for baptism. One of the early Church Fathers said that the Lord’s Prayer contains the whole of the Christian Gospel -the good news of Jesus Christ.

So why not find out more by joining the Pilgrim Course in September?

The Lord’s Prayer module of the Pilgrim Course begins in the church hall rooms at 8.00 pm on Monday 10 September and runs till Monday 15 October (Coffee and tea are available at 7.45 pm. and each evening will finish by 9.30 pm).
