“The Pilgrim course is a journey to the heart of God and to a living, personal relationship with Jesus Christ within the household of his church. It is offered to the parishes and churches of the Church of England that we might take more seriously the great commission to make disciples, and build in each of our parishes a place where people can come to know Christ and follow in the way of faith”. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York.
The Pilgrim Course is a new major teaching and discipleship course from the Church of England. It aims to help every Christian community to create a safe place where people can explore the Christian faith together and examine how it can be lived out each day through contemplation and discussion with a group of fellow pilgrims. The course is suitable for those who want an introduction to the Christian faith (or are perhaps thinking about being confirmed) as well as those who have been Christians for some time. All are welcome to the Pilgrim Course.
Pilgrim starts at the very beginning : all that is needed is a desire to learn and explore
Pilgrim aims to equip people to follow Jesus Christ as disciples for the whole of their lives
Pilgrim is Scriptural: in each session people will engage with the Bible
Pilgrim draws deeply from the Christian tradition with modules on the Lord’s Prayer, the Eucharist, the Creeds, the Beatitudes, the Ten Commandments and the Bible
The course is divided into 8 modules. Each has 6 weekly sessions which will run in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. As we shall repeat the introductory course each Summer, it will take 4 years to complete all 8 courses! You are welcome to come to just one course, or several . All sessions include a mix of teaching, prayer, small and large group work.
The first 6 week module in 2017 will be "The Eucharist". It begins in the church hall rooms at 8.00 pm on Monday 20 February . (Coffee and tea are available at 7.45 pm. and each evening will finish by 9.30 pm). All are welcome.
