SPACE ALL-AGE WORSHIP>>

SPACE is the name for our regular all-age worship which happens three times a term at 9am.

These services are designed to be interactive and accessible, so that the whole church community can worship together in a meaningful way.

Typically, SPACE includes: all-age singing; discussion, activities, creative expression.

SPACE: The Vision
The ideas around the space service come out of a long standing body of work around emerging and liquid concepts of church. Briefly, Anglican lecturer and researcher, Pete Ward who has pioneered the theory of liquid church suggests that: “we need a shift in mindset from seeing Church as a gathering of people meeting in one place at one time, i.e. a congregation, to a more dynamic, shifting notion of Church as a series of relationships and communications - something like a network or web, rather than an assembly of people.” These concepts are worked out all the way through our youthwork here, and it is the overarching model that we use to help encourage an informal exploration of life-centred spirituality.

Space services:

  • Are conversational and interactive, recognising the need to engage the congregation.
  • Use modes of communication which provide platforms which can be accessed by people with different levels of age and understanding.
  • Respond to the needs of children, young people, and young families, by crossing generational barriers.
  • Are holistic - rather than being just about intellectual understanding, or didactic teaching, the services recognise the need for other expressions of our communal spirituality (including the spirituality of children), and our differences as well as our similarities.
  • Enrich the community, making it an attractive and non-threatening space to invite and welcome other people into.
